Page Number Start At 2: What You Should Know

Mar 1, 2025 — When you have your page number, paste it into the number you chose. If your number is already there, replace it with your new number. Tip: If you want your second page number to start at 1 rather than 2, go to Insert > Page Number  under Page Numbering. Tip: If you want your second page number to start at 0, go under Page Numbering → Format Page Numbers, and set Start at 0 to your second page number. If you have two pages that are the same height but with different number positions, you can start counting the number of the later page after you paste into a number format. On your second page, open the Document window and select the Page 1 menu, then under Number Format > Format Number Start at, choose 0 In Apple Pages and Google Docs, click the “Page 2″ button to see if you can find numbers on page 2. In Microsoft Word, go to Insert > Page Number and type and paste in your page number. Then change Start at to 1 to start numbering on that page. In Microsoft Excel, head to the Insert tab > Page Number. On the Edit page tab, choose Format Page Number, and on the Page Numbering section, choose Page Number Start at. If you have two pages that are the same height, and one page of content is at the top of that page, you can start counting the number of the later page after you paste into a number format. In the Insert tab, press the “Page Up” button. In the same window, press the “Page Down” button. In the same window, press Page Number. In the main window, press the “Page Down” button. On the Edit page tab, click Format Page Number, set Start at to 1, and in the Page Numbering section, set Start at to 2. If you have two pages with the same number spacing, with the content at the same top of each page, you can start counting the number of the later page after you paste into a number format. In the Insert tab, press the “Page Up” and “Page Down” buttons. In the Main window, press the “Page Up” button. In the View tab, click Page Number. On the Edit page tab, click Change the number before counting. Press Change to choose a different number.
