If you prefer to enter the number directly in the document, or if you want to copy your text and paste it into another document, you can enter the number as you would type it in. Just remember that it won't change the formatting of the page. You can add page numbers to an existing document by selecting the Page number tool in the Insert tab, choosing a location and then choosing the number you want. For example to add a page number to a paragraph you selected in the Insert tab, click on the Page number tool in the Insert tab and choose a location, enter the number in the number box and then choose the page number you want. The best way to insert a page number is to have the cursor where you want it and select the Insert tab, then Page Number → Current Position → Plain Number.
