How Should I Start Learning Hadoop With Java?
Holy trinity of Hadoop for beginners. 1. Linux(File system ) Majority of Hadoop vendors have released linux supported version of Hadoop only. So you would be required to have a basic understanding of linux file system and commands. Hadoop File system commands are similar to linux. 2. Java/Scala (Writing explicit map-reduce) You need to have working knowledge of any JVM based programming language preferably Scala/java. There are ways to write code in other languages but that would be more like a Jugaad(Hack). Scala is more concise and likely to be gain popularity because of its functional and object oriented nature. 3.SQL (Implicit map-reduce tools) There are lots of tools in Hadoop who either support SQL as primary querying mechanism or atleast provide a way of querying the data through SQL .
